ERRA // Nashville, TN
The day was march 12th and also the fifth sold out show in a row for the Currents and ERRA co-headline tour. As the crowd finished filing into the venue the lights fade out and a collective cheer goes up as the first opening band Aviana takes the stage to immediately bring the heavy and setting the tone for the rest of the night to come. The second opener to take the stage, caskets, slowed things down a bit with more melodic songs giving the crowd time to catch their breath. With the opening concluded you could feel that the crowd was hungry for the main course. Lucky it was a short wait at 8:05 currents hit the stage with so alone and the crowd came alive. The mosh pit opened up as currents transitioned into unfamiliar before transitioning into the much more sing along friendly let me leave. Currents continued to keep the crowd moving with songs off their new EP like My severance and can’t turn back. Then was the crowd was nice and warm currents launched into pummeling them with some of the heavier songs from their discography. Two particular standouts being apnea and into despair which are absolutely brutal songs from their earlier years as a band. Finally ending with it only gets darker the first single from their newest EP All That Follows. Just like that Currents exited the stage leaving the crowd wanting more.
The beauty of a co-headliner is that the crowd got just what they wanted as ERRA took the stage for their hometown Nashville, Tn show. ERRA wasted no time in getting the crowd moving with Gore of Being, the first single off of their newest record Silence Outlives The Earth. Not slowing down from there, ERRA continued to assault the crowd and demand motion with heavy hitters cicada siren and i. the many names of god. Moving into the second half of the set saw some slower but no less beautiful songs with Vanish Canvas along with another new song black cloud really showing the vocal range of guitarist Jesse Cash as JT Cavey took a much deserved vocal break. All of this beautiful music was accompanied by incredible visual work that really added to the overall experience of the show. With JT’s return to the stage brought back the heavy with Further Eden with it’s incredible harmonics breakdown. Refusing to slow down JT told the crowd to spin into a giant circle pit before launching into Gungrave a more fast paced beatdown of a track. With only a few songs left to close out the night ERRA gave the crowd an older song with Skyline opening with an absolute shred of a solo. Just like that the night almost over ERRA gave the crowd one last song with fan favorite Snowblood then after destroying the crowd and giving them a night they won’t soon forget the show was over and ERRA left the stage. This was not a show to miss catch ERRA and Currents on tour now while you can.
